Application Procedures

The Departmental policy on processing graduate enquiries involves the following steps:

  • The Department must assess your academic qualifications for enrolment as a graduate student which can normally be achieved by inspection of your original academic transcripts, or a certified copy of your academic transcripts and an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae. Applicants are also required to submit a research proposal relating to their area of interest.
  • The Department must have the appropriate supervisory staff and facilities for your research programme. This criterion depends on your preferred field of study and the current workloads and commitments of the academic staff working in that particular field.
  • International students must provide evidence of English Language Proficiency and any IELTS/TOEFL tests that are taken more than two years prior to any application will not be accepted. Please refer to Monash University's English Language Requirements for further information.

Further enrolment details and an outline of research currently in progress in the Department of Civil Engineering, can be found in the Graduate Research Study Opportunities in Civil Engineering at Monash University booklet. (pdf 352kb)
