About ITS (Monash) and Staff
|
About ITS (Monash) and StaffFor over 34 years, transport teaching and research activities have been conducted within the Department of Civil Engineering at Monash University. From the original appointment of Dr Ken Ogden in 1969, the group has evolved in nature and grown in size to a current total of nine staff. The formation, in 1995, of the National Key Centre in Transport Management, as a collaborative undertaking with the University of Sydney, reflected the national and international reputation which the group had earned for its teaching and research in transport. The National Key Centre is known as the Institute of Transport Studies and ITS (Monash), as the local node has become known, has become the public face of the transport education and research activities at Monash. While ITS (Monash) has given the group increased profile, it remains integrally linked to the Department of Civil Engineering. ITS (Monash) conducts transport related research in the fields of transport technology, travel behaviour, road safety and transport/traffic engineering. The Institute also has an extensive program of related activities including publications, participation at conferences, software development and links to other leading transport research institutes. The Staff and Visitors associated with ITS (Monash) include academic and general staff whose formal appointment is in the Civil Engineering Department (ie the Monash Transport Group) as well as staff appointed to ITS.
