Vacation Employment
In accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, the Faculty Board requires that students complete twelve weeks of approved work experience, and report on it.
Your vacation work may be completed in one 12 week sequence, or comprise two or more periods (totalling 12 weeks). Students unable to arrange suitable work during their course may count the first twelve weeks of the employment after their final year. Approval to graduate, however, depends on the vacation work being completed and a satisfactory grade achieved, before the graduation lists close with Student Services. Vacation Employment Guidelines can be obtained from the Civil Engineering General Office.
A Prize of $100 is awarded annually to the student who submits the best report on vacation work experience within the guidelines. The prize is awarded at the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony following the first graduation ceremony of the year.
