Scholarships

Transurban Excellence in Engineering Award

This award is provided by Transurban City Link Ltd and will awarded to an outstanding Civil, Electrical & Computer Systems or Environmental student completing the third year of study. The award value is $5,000 AUD to assist in final year education expenses in the Monash University Faculty of Engineering. The award will be open to engineering students who are permanent residents of Australia. Nominees for the award will be recommended by the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering and the Coordinator or the Environmental Engineering Program. Each discipline area may make one nomination.

The Traffix Group Scholarships

Two scholarships have been established for students who have an interest and intend to pursue careers in transport engineering. The scholarships are offered to students who will complete level 2 or 3 of their studies at the end of the year of application. The level 2 scholarship offers $1,000 plus work experience with the Traffix Group for 6 to 12 weeks. The level 3 scholarship offers $1,500 plus work experience with the Traffix Group for 6 to 12 weeks. Students gaining the level 3 scholarship will be required to undertake a transport project in level 4. Students applying for the scholarships should submit a two page outline of their interest in transport and the reasons they would like to work in this area, their transcript and a short CV to the Head of the Institute of Transport Studies (Monash) by 30 July each year. Appropriate students will be interviewed in August and the scholarships granted in September.

Keith Rix Scholarship

Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd have set up a scholarship to commemorate the contribution to engineering of Keith Rix, their longest serving employee. The scholarship, worth $5,000 is to assist with the education expenses for a final year civil engineering student. The award recipient will be offered vacation employment with Leighton Contractors at the end of level 3. The award recipient must display high level academic performance in the first two and a half years of their undergraduate program. In addition, the successful student must be a permanent resident of Australia and concurrently hold another major scholarship or award. Scholarship applicants should show that the scholarship will assist them in completing the final year of their program.
