2. Mode of Study
The courses are conducted via Off-Campus Learning (distance education) and there is no requirement for participants to attend lectures. Study guides are sent following enrolment and these contain a suggested study schedule linked to the submission of assignments and the final examination. Each unit (subject) has a consultant lecturer who is available to answer questions and to provide assistance as necessary throughout the semester. Assistance can be arranged by email, fascimile, mail or telephone.
Enrolled students have access privileges for a dedicated WebCT unit website. The WebCT unit website can provide access to the study resources and a range of communication tools (email, discussion groups and chatrooms) to facilitate communication with the consultant lecturer and other students enrolled in the unit. Students will need to have access to a computer to be able to make use of the Webct unit websites, participate in electronic communication and for completion of assignments in some units.
Unit Study Material
Study material has been written by experts from industry and academia
and this has been transformed into a package suitable for the distance
education mode. The end product is a comprehensive set of user friendly
technical notes, readings, references, case studies and assignments. Some units may require participants to purchase a text but some texts will be suitable for a number of units. At the end of the course, the library of unit study material and texts will represent a valuable professional resource.
Assessment Requirements
Performance in all units is assessed by a formal three hour examination
at the end of the semester. Students must pass both the continuous assessment (assignments) and examination components to pass the unit. The examination venues are arranged by Monash University which has centres throughout Australia and around the world.
